About

Food and Flowers Grown Here in the North Country!

Alewife Acres is a small, locally and seasonally focused farm striving to produce healthy and nutritious foods & beautiful flowers that travel the fewest number of miles possible, while building soil health through locally sourced inputs and no applied chemicals.

I am committed to transparency – anything I have available will be produced by me, unless otherwise marked. I refuse to use AI or LLM inputs, so the logo, my labels, my writing, and all of the background work that goes into crop planning and marketing are done manually, by me. It may be clumsy, or clunky, at times, but that’s what makes it human.

Meet the farmer behind Alewife Acres

Jessica Goretzke

Farmer

I’ve been gardening in some capacity or another since I was a tiny tyke and finally have the space and opportunity to start growing at a larger scale. I’ve lived in Cape Vincent for six years and have been working on scaling up each year in my free time. I’ve dabbled with tiny windowsill gardens, experimented with growing in both hay and straw bales, and I love learning more about growing healthy plants in new ways. I hope to share my enthusiasm for healthy and sustainably grown local produce and flowers with the communities around me in the coming seasons!

I grow here in the village of Cape Vincent and in a small plot south of here in Chaumont. Odds are, you’ll see me in the garden in the evenings and weekends!
